For three weeks, Young Scholars high school students came to campus to explore science, technology, engineering, the arts, and math. This year, 31 students took courses taught by Utica University professors in Computer Science (Dr. Angel Rivera), Bio/Chem (Dr. Eva Mroczek & Dr. Alyssa Thomas), Business and Marketing (Dr. Francesca Dunlevy), and a special Creative Writing session with YSLPP Site Assistant Alberto Garcia. Additionally, students chose a topic of interest and were guided through the research process. On the final day, students presented their research to their families, the Utica University community, and a panel of judges to experience firsthand what a research conference is like. Congrats to all of this year’s winners for their outstanding research posters- their hard work really paid off!

Thanks to all of the faculty and staff involved in this program for their dedication to the education of Young Scholars participants! All of our students thank the M&T Bank/ Partners Trust Bank Charitable Fund and the Mele Family Fund for their support of STEAM learning opportunities. These are donor advised funds of The Community Foundation of Herkimer and Oneida Counties.
