Last week, I had the privilege of accompanying six of our Young Scholars to the Adirondack Youth Climate Summit at the Wild Center in Tupper Lake, NY. The event brought together over 100 high school students from across New York State for two days of learning, sharing, and collaboration around conservation, environmentalism, and global climate change.

Our students engaged with these urgent topics by attending workshops led by environmental scientists and listening to speakers from diverse backgrounds and ages, all offering valuable insights into how we can address the timely challenges presented by our changing climate. The sessions were designed to equip students with the necessary tools to create tangible, actionable climate solutions within their communities while engaging in productive and healthy conversations with those around them.

The event culminated in group presentations in which our students masterfully shared their action plan. I can’t overstate how impressed I am by how articulately and passionately our Young Scholars delivered their message. The experience left me with a profound sense of optimism. The drive of these emerging leaders, coupled with their enthusiasm for creating a better future, was nothing short of inspirational. I’m excited to see what they’ll do next, and I am confident that their collective efforts will have a lasting impact on the world around them.

A huge thank you to the Wild Center team for hosting a masterfully-organized and impactful event. Their work in creating a space for young environmental activists to come together and learn is so important.
